Crisis payments and rent assistance

If you are in severe financial hardship, have just come out of prison or are recently homeless, or have just arrived in Australia, you may be entitled to a crisis payment to assist you to find accommodation. Some people are also entitled to ongoing rent assistance.

What is family violence?

Family violence isn’t just hitting. The Family Violence Act (Tas) 2004 defines family violence as any of the following types of conduct committed by a person directly or indirectly, against that persons spouse or partner: assault, including sexual assault; threats, coercion intimidation or verbal abuse; abduction; stalking; economic abuse; and emotional abuse or intimidation.
